The biggest difference between Spinalogic and others is Spinalogic has been repeatedly tested in real practices to find out where the most time is spent by doctors and CAs. With this information, we have designed solutions for every time-consuming task in practice (you do still have to adjust your patients though!). The result for you is much less time and energy spent on mind-numbing repetitive and error-prone tasks.

Spinalogic is built on industrial-strength database technology (Microsoft SQL Server) which can handle many thousands of simultaneous users and millions of patient records. This means no loss of data has ever occurred for our clients due to software failure.

Yes. You can use LogMeIn remote software at no additional cost and get almost the same experience as if you were in your office.

Yes. DICOMs are indeed the only medico-legally recognised format. It’s the only format that a radiologist will comment on, and the only format that is admissible in court. Spinalogic acquires X-rays directly from digital X-ray machines and stores them in patient profiles in DICOM format. They appear on-screen during adjustment and you can view them on any networked PC in your practice, at home, or on the road.

These are not jpg versions of DICOM with line drawing burned in obscuring anatomical features as most other products display.

Where is my practice's data stored?

Your practice data is stored in your practice on your computers where it is safest. At no additional cost to you, our qualified professionals can advise you on how to keep your system fully safe and secure.

You are not dependent on having an internet connection to see your patients so if your internet fails, you don’t just all go home unable to even call your patients to tell them not to come in!

The best place for your data is definitely in your own office.

We also have a full-service cloud backup available as an optional extra.

How hard is it to install Spinalogic?

Spinalogic Express is easy to install – you can download it for free and install it yourself. The advanced editions of Spinalogic take a little more work but it can easily be done by anyone with reasonable IT knowledge. See details here. We are available to help if you get stuck. If you have Spinalogic Unlimited of course then there is nothing to it because we take care of all this for you.

Yes. Spinalogic is proud to be headed by Richard Sawyer, Master of Chiropractic, BSc (Physics), who founded and designed Spinalogic as a Chiropractor for Chiropractors after 15 years in practice. To this day Richard continues to lead the Spinalogic team innovatively and is in constant contact with fellow Chiropractors around the world.

No. There is no better timing for implementing the organisational tools that Spinalogic provides than before a new associate or CA is brought onboard. Our experience is that implementing Spinalogic before a new team member is brought onboard will greatly assist in the training and enculturalizing of that associate. The reasons for this are that the simple-to-use but sophisticated tools in Spinalogic will facilitate a lot of the new team member’s training, free up time for the existing staff to guide him or her, and keep him or her on track when not being supervised. Consider these 3 points:

In the time it takes to source and employ a new team member, there is ample time to implement and train existing staff on Spinalogic so why not just do it.
A new team member will have to be trained in the methods of the practice in any case, so it would seem logical to teach him or her the tools in the Practice Management System at the same time, rather than again at a separate training event at a later date.
Spinalogic has training videos with inbuilt progress reporting for bringing new team members up to speed. Half your training is done by Spinalogic for you!
Once you have set up our super checklists, or Experts as we call them, all processes in your practice are fully documented. With a little initial guidance, the new team member can easily do what needs to be done without error from day one. Spinalogic Australia Pty Ltd is based in Brisbane, Australia. This of course means that our support is in native English. We have clients in many timezones and we easily deliver support globally.

What sort of payment options are there?

You can pay by monthly subscription or you buy outright up front – whichever better suits your situation or personality. Both approaches give you access to ongoing updates which are released typically monthly. You can expect Spinalogic to return far more to you than the cost of the subscription if you use even just 1/4 of the tools included.

Just download a free trial and play with it! Import your own patient data. Do the training. Play around. If you like it great – just keep it. If it’s not what you want, do let us know how we can make it better but you are under no obligation. Just cancel your subscription in the first 30 days and you pay nothing.

Installation – Spinalogic Unlimited

The installation process for Spinalogic Unlimited is the same as for Spinalogic Complete… only you don’t have to do it because we’ll do it all for you!

After consultation with you to determine exactly what you need, we will liaise directly with your preferred local IT supplier to make sure your needs translate into the right hardware choices and set up.

Installation – Spinalogic Complete

Installation of Spinalogic Clinical is made on a network of PCs in your office.

Your PCs

Typically you will have one PC at each adjusting table, one at arrivals and one at your front desk. If you do your reporting or examinations in a different location to your adjusting, you’d have a PC at each of these locations too.

For a smaller office, you can use one of your PCs as both a workstation and server. In a larger office (seeing higher volume or with mulitple doctors), you are best to set up your server as a stand-alone PC that is not used as a workstation.

See the hardware requirements to check if your existing hardware is sufficient or when buying new hardware.

You will probably need a local IT supplier to set this up for you.

Following are the technical details for your installer. Remember we can do the installation for you remotely if you wish for a fee.

If you have In-House Digital X-Ray

Set the server to have a static IP address.
Enter the server static IP into your digital x-ray system so it will send x-rays to that machine. Use port 104 and any AET you like. You may need help from your x-ray system supplier to do this but it’s a 5 minute task for someone who knows what they are doing.

Installing Server and Workstations

Download and install Spinalogic Server to your server. This will install the server components and workstation.
Create an installation disk or USB key: Start Spinalogic Workstation on your server. Go to menu Settings.. System Tools.. Setup New Workstation. You can find detailed steps here if you need them.
Use your new disk or key to setup Spinalogic on each PC where you need it.

Installing Calling

Calling needs to be running on one PC in your office to handle all patient flow. It is important you only install it on ONE machine! This is the same machine where you will have speakers that can be heard in your waiting area for patients to be called.

Even if you decide not to use the audio calling, you still need to have calling installed – you just turn the sound off at that PC.

To set up calling, install workstation as above, then:

Make sure Spinalogic is closed.
Hold down the Shift key and start Spinalogic. Keep the key down until you see Spinalogic Launcher.
Click Advanced. Check the box to install calling.
Click Install Updates.

Installing Arrivals

Do the same as for Calling above, but select to install Arrivals instead of Calling.

Installation is complete

That’s all there is to it! Remember, if you get stuck, your IT supplier can contact us or you can ask us to do the install for you remotely after your network is set up.

Installation – Spinalogic Drawing

Installation of Spinalogic Drawing can be done on a single machine. You can add additional workstations after the initial install to connect to the first PC so you can view your x-rays from anywhere in the office.

Installation will differ depending on whether you have your own digital x-ray or not.

Your own Digital X-Ray

Install the server/workstation first. The system you install on will need to meet the server hardware requirements. We will call the machine the server but you can also view x-rays on it if you want.
Set the server to have a static IP address.

Third-Party X-Rays Taken Off-Site

If you have your x-rays taken off-site, the x-ray service will supply you with digital x-rays on a CD-ROM. You can read the x-rays off this CD directly into Spinalogic, and return the disk directly to the patient. In this scenario, you’ll probably want a workstation set up at your front desk so your CA can do this.

Install the server/workstation first. The system you install on will need to meet the server hardware requirements. We will call the machine the server but you can also view x-rays on it if you want.

Installation – Spinalogic Clinical

Installation of Spinalogic Clinical is made on a network of PCs in your office.

Your PCs

Installing Server and Workstations

Download and install Spinalogic Server to your server. This will install the server components and workstation.

Installation – Spinalogic Express

Installation of Spinalogic Express is easy – you can just do it yourself.

Before you do though, make sure you have Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista or Windows 7. To check, click Start, right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Also check the Hardware Requirements to make sure Spinalogic will run on your PC. 1 GB of space on your hard-drive will be plenty.

Next download the trial version of Express and run the installer.

After Spinalogic Installs, it will take you through a few steps to get your essential settings like your hours of operation, doctor names etc.

It’s now installed. Play with it. Have fun. The QuickStart Apps at the top of the homepage will take you and your team through the Ignition Training so you know how to get things done.

When you feel ready, do a final data import to get your patient account balances and appointments, and go live.

If you get stuck, just lodge a support ticket from the Help menu in Spinalogic.

Hardware Requirements

Spinalogic is very un-demanding on your hardware.

You will need to install the database on your server and Spinalogic Workstation software on each workstation. In a simple Express installation, you commonly have both the database and the workstation on the same PC. You can then connect to that PC from other workstations.

In a practice using Complete or Unlimited, we recommend you have a stand-alone server which is not used as a workstation.

Hardware

Spinalogic can be run on a single stand-alone machine (typical for Express) or a network of any size. Typically a Complete or Unlimited installation will have one server and 5-10 workstations.

Stand-alone Machine or Workstation

Minimum specs: Pentium 4, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, Windows XP Home SP3
Recommended specs: Core i3, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD, Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Monitors must have minimum of 1024 pixel vertical resolution. Touch-screens are good for arrivals and adjusting locations.
In a Complete/Unlimited installation, place one workstation at each table, one at arrivals, one or two at your front desk, and one in your exam room.
You need Adobe Flash Player installed to view training videos.
You can download our Spinalogic Hardware Checker to test your system (open this link with Internet Explorer). If any problems are found, they will be highlighted in red. You can email results directly to discuss with our support team.

Server

Minimum specs: Core i3, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, Windows XP Pro (max 7 workstations)
Recommended specs: Core i7, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD RAID 1 or 5, Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (max 15 workstations – for more, use Windows Server 2008)
Server can double up as a workstation but not doing so is preferred.
Monitor not required unless doubling up as workstation

Antivirus

We recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. It is free for up to 10 PCs even in a business. If you have more than 10 PCs, talk to your local IT provider.

Local Backup

External HDD same size as server / stand-alone machine total HDD capacity

Network

Internet connection for updates, support and licencing
Wired network – gigabit preferred, 100Mb is OK. Wireless is not recommended for reliability and performance.

Patient Recognition

In a Complete/Unlimited installation, patients can arrive themselves. We recommend our easy PIN-number login system. You need no additional hardware to use this – just a touch-screen, keyboard or numeric keypad. If preferred, Spinalogic can read a variety of existing barcodes and can use fingerprint recognition.
