Conclusion
Well, September 18th 2010 saw the final leg of Spinalogic’s awesome Chiropractic Journey with the World Chiropractic Alliance Australasia, at what was possibly the best seminar in the series, held at the Holiday Inn near Sydney airport. It’s been 16 crazy months and 12 exciting events, where we witnessed some truly amazing stuff. Just take a look at some of the Chiropractic Excellence Interviews at the link in the menu above where we’ve asked Doctors of Chiropractic, Chiropractic Assistants and Chiropractic patients what Excellence in Chiropractic means to them, with some astonishing responses.
Also, be sure to check out the videos of our Dr. Richard Sawyer explaining the best use of technology in the Chiropractic office, and of course the videos Dr. Peter Snodgrass’ revolutionary Membership care model, which was revealed only at the final two seminars in the series.
My posting of videos on this blog is now finished, but the blog will remain here forever for fans of Chiropractic and members of the Chiropractic community to ask questions and leave comments about anything to do with Spinalogic, the WCA or Chiropractic in general. Oh, and it should be noted that there has never been, and will never be, any financial arrangement whatsoever between Spinalogic and the WCA.
As for Richard’s and my next journey, check out our newly formed online health education and resource company at www.optimalhealthworks.com.au
Yours in Chiropractic,
Robert Millar MCSE, PMP
Here Dr. Pete concludes the seminar by re-stating the simplicity and the flexibility of his Membership care model. At the very end of this session you can hear the epiphany one of the Chiropractors in the audience has as the power of Dr. Pete’s new care model dawns on him. Priceless!
Dr. Peter Snodgrass teaches Chiropractors to focus on continual building, not on maintenance
Here Dr. Pete teaches Chiropractors to focus on continual building, not on maintenance. He asks, if your teeth are clean, do you drop brushing back to once a month? And if you’ve lost the weight you don’t want, do you then go back to eating MacDonalds every other meal? In the same manner, why would you taper Chiropractic care?
The highlight of the seminar, Dr. Pete introduces his revolutionary new Membership care model for Chiropractors, which he touched on at the WCA 2010 Seminar, Brisbane, earlier this year. With obvious passion, Dr. Pete emphasises the overarching principle that “Your care model determines your whole practice” and cautions that you can’t run his very simple but incredibly effective new model without the specific, intelligent automation provided by Spinalogic.
Here Dr. Peter Snodgrass introduces and endorses Dr. Richard Sawyer, Director and Founder of Chiropractic software Spinalogic.org. Dr. Richard states that his objective in creating and delivering Spinalogic is to allow Chiropractic practices to function more efficiently so they can satisfy all of the new compliance requirements more cheaply and in less time than via any other method. He emphasises this by saying “I want to make it all unified and simple, so it’s really easy.” Dr. Richard also talks about how Spinalogic is pursuing ARRA EHR (Electronic Health Record) certification in the US, and the kind of standards and increases in compliance we can expect for Chiropractors in the next couple of years. He believes we are now past the point where it’s practical to maintain a complete and accurate record of what one has done, by hand on paper, to satisfy all of the regulatory requirements for Chiropractors.
Here Dr. Peter Snodgrass reveals the recent industry-shaking events in the journey of the WCA, and where the organisation is now in relation to AHPRA (the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), the CAA (Chiropractors’ Association of Australia) and COCA (the Chiropractic and Osteopathic College of Australasia.) Note his emphasis on the current, positive synergy between the WCA and the CAA.
Dr. Peter Snodgrass kicks off the World Chiropractic Alliance 2010 Seminar, Sydney. Then Andrew Destro, CEO of GQA (Global Quality Accreditation), describes some of the new national guidelines for Chiropractors as put forth by newly formed AHPRA (the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), including formal and informal educational requirements and restrictions on giving discounts and using testimonials. Dr. Pete wraps up the segment with why he thinks the legislation is reasonable, and how the WCA can assist Chiropractors with any issues they may have navigating it.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2010 Seminar, Sydney
September 18th will see the final leg of our awesome Chiropractic Journey with the World Chiropractic Alliance, this time with a fully-loaded WCA Seminar in Sydney. It’s been 16 months and 10 events so far, where we’ve seen and heard some truely amazing stuff. Just take a look at some of the Chiropractic Excellence Interviews at the link in the menu above where we’ve asked Doctors of Chiropractic, Chiropractic Assistants and Chiropractic patients what Excellence in Chiropractic means to them, with some astonishing responses.
But for now, check out Dr. Peter Snodgrass in the following short video he sent recently to encourage us to encourage YOU to be part of this event in Sydney on September 18th at the Holiday Inn on Bourke Road in Sydney. In Dr. Pete’s words “I promise that you will never practice the same.” Call Andrew Destro on 0403-355-656 to join us, or at least check back here after the event to see the highlights.
Here Dr. Pete details his highly efficient patient flow method where walk ins go from enquiry to 1st adjustment in one session without having to make a booking. He accomplishes this automatically via a well trained CA to handle patient education and Spinalogic to handle everything from image management to Zero Touch payment for his well known style of delivering high level care.
Here Dr. Richard briefly describes his full-circle journey from research scientist for the government, to Chiropractor, to research scientist (and Director) for Spinalogic. He then addresses the question “Should Chiropractors use technology in their practices?” and highlights the leverage that specific technology can provide by allowing CAs to spend their time communicating Chiropractic to patients rather than filling out forms and receipts.
Here Dr. Pete introduces high quality Chiropractic drop tables from Power On, which he was pivotal in designing. With the assistance of Dr. Theo Blote, Dr. Pete then explain how if drop tables are not set up properly, Chiropractic adjustments will be ineffective. Finally he presents 3 options for applying force in adjustments, and finishes with a session of Chiropractors adjusting Chiropractors.
Here Dr. Linda Blythe takes us through the concept of creating change in our lives though change in our attitudes. She goes on to then challenge Chiropractors to examine themselves in terms of, among other things, her Key Features of a Leader, using analogies from the world of yoga.
Here Dr. Pete starts by stating that Spinalogic is the centre point of having a very low overhead office, then goes on to discuss low volume, technique focused offices vs. high volume, philosophy focused offices, and the need to balance both.
Here Dr. Dennis Collis of North Cairns Chiropractic spells out Excellence in Chiropractic, in his no-nonsense way, as demanding the best of every component required to unleash the true power of Chiropractic.
Here Dr. Peter Grieve of Umina Chiropractic in NSW describes the passion required for Excellence in Chiropractic, and how his son Mike is now carrying that torch with him.
Here I interview Dr. Ian Deitch of Chirolife in Melbourne, where the World Chiropractic Alliance Seminar for Melbourne was held on October 10th. For Dr. Deitch Excellence in Chiropractic is certainty and absolute belief in what one does as a Chiropractor, and the minimum standard one would accept in taking people to a higher level of health.
Interview with Dr. Mario Ferraro at the World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Melbourne
Here I interview Dr. Mario Ferraro of ChiroCentre in Melbourne on what Excellence in Chiropractic means to him, which is getting the very best out of every patient in terms of health and lifestyle, achieved through regular Chiropractic adjustment and education.
In this video clip Dr. Peter Snodgrass adjusts two of the Chiropractors who attended the WCA Seminar in Melbourne.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Melbourne – Presentation Session, Dr. Richard Sawyer
Here Dr. Richard Sawyer, founder of Spinalogic, explains the Pareto principle (also known as the 80/20 rule), Moore’s Law (which says that computer performance doubles every 18 months) and Paul Zane Pilzer’s W = RxT formula (Wealth = Resources times the Technology used to apply those resources.) Dr. Richard describes Chiropractic Vision as the Wealth of the Chiropractic community, and points out that if related Technology is a negative application, the resulting Wealth created will also be negative.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Melbourne – Presentation Session, Dr. Scott Walters
In this video clip Dr. Scott Walters presents his mentors and how they helped him get to where he is today. From his father, to Will Smith, to C.J. Mertz, to the Sergeant At Arms of a national motorcycle club, Dr. Scott’s presentation of his colourful adventure ends with a compelling message to all – doing what one wants to do as opposed to doing what one has to do.
In this video Dr. Peter Snodgrass presents on his Apex Technique in relation to Gonstead, CBP and other chiropractic techniques. He discusses Segmental and Global approaches to subluxation, and presents his elegantly simple Collapse Theory.
In this video Dr. Peter Snodgrass presents on Simplicity in the Chiropractic practice. His motto is “If you don’t do too much, you can do it in volume!”
In this video Dr. Peter Snodgrass presents on Efficiency in the Chiropractic practice. Recently Dr. Pete ran his high volume practice for 2 weeks on his own, with Spinalogic managing all administrative tasks.
In this video clip Dr. Peter Snodgrass demonstrates how to correctly use the Chiropractic drop table, with emphasis on how to keep bio-mechanically correct form when performing a Chiropractic adjustment.
In this video clip Dr. Hakan Bilal adjusts a student Chiropractor with signs of scoliosis.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Perth – Presentation Session, Dr. Shane Mezger (part 2)
In this video clip Dr. Shane Mezger describes the 4 Models Of Chiropractic Care used at his practice – Pain Relief, Functional, Correction (CBP) and finally Trial Maintenance, an important concept which he explains in detail.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Perth – Presentation Session, Dr. Shane Mezger (part 1)
Here Dr. Shane Mezger of Switched On Chiropractic, who has also recently been placed in charge of professional development for CAA Western Australia, presents his own Chiropractic Journey. He discusses the proper measuring of subluxation, and also the X-ray line drawing feature in Spinalogic which flags areas of the spine that are drastically away from optimal.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Perth – Presentation Session, Dr. Richard Sawyer (part 2)
Here Dr. Richard Sawyer describes how critical it is to capture proper, medico-legal level case summaries and how Spinalogic has designed the case summary capture form in conjunction with the WCA. He explains how in the life of the practitioner it is likely that he or she will be called to account as compliance requirements go up and litigation increases. Separately he shows how to create compelling, X-ray embedded exercise guides for patients in around 30 seconds using Spinalogic.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Perth – Presentation Session, Dr. Richard Sawyer (part 1)
In this video clip Dr. Richard Sawyer discusses the importance of comparative, or pre and post, X-rays. He also talks about the importance of Dr. Don and Dr. Deed Harrison’s CBP technique and highly recommends the CBP textbooks to the student Chiropractors participating in the seminar.
In this video clip Dr. Hakan Bilal challenges the audience to literally think outside the box. He warns us not to set goals and rewards for staff which can lead to unproductive single mindedness.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Perth – Presentation Session, Dr. Peter Snodgrass
In this video clip Dr. Peter Snodgrass opens the WCA 2009 Seminar for Perth by challenging the seminar participants to “Trust what you see.” He goes on to recommend not having patients focus only on structure, but more on receiving regular adjustment throughout their lives, straightening structure, improving posture, increasing range of motion, increasing strength, and improving neurological competency along the way.
Here Dr. Brian Kelly, President of the New Zealand College Of Chiropractic, shares his thoughts on where Chiropractic might be in 20 or 30 years time, and what should be done for that now.
Here Dr. Doug Herron of The Centre For Powerful Practices describes a fantastic experience he had recently at his practice in Western Australia.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Singapore – Sunday Session 2, Dr. Richard Sawyer
Here Dr. Richard Sawyer describes short leg syndrome and the potential danger of overshooting the mark in correcting that issue. He then presents a number of other cases and encourages the Doctors participating in the seminar to interact and offer how they would approach the problems suggested. He also illustrates some of the tools built into Spinalogic to make it easy to conduct such analysis, like on-screen x-ray line drawing and the automatic calculation of the angle of pelvic incidence.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Singapore – Sunday Session 1, Dr. Peter Snodgrass
Here, at Wellness For Life Chiropractic in Singapore, Dr. Peter Snodgrass presents his Apex Technique chiropractic model, describing the segmental model (correction, restoring arcs) versus the global model (CBP particularly) and how although Chiropractors tend to specialise in 1 or the other, one can move between the 2 models effortlessly. He then gives Chiropractic adjustment to several doctors participating in the seminar including, as seen here, Dr. Andrew Ching, Dr. Barry Decker, and Dr. C.J. Mertz.
Here Dr. C.J. Mertz presents a Chiropractic patient physical and mental breakthrough timeline, and describes the common mistake of patients buying correction, instead of buying wellness to maintain correction. Finally, Dr. CJ hosts an incredible patient speak-out session, where patients were invited to tell the story of their Chiropractic Journeys.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Singapore – Saturday Session 3, Dr. Richard Sawyer
Here Dr. Richard Sawyer compares the inefficiency of the paper based practice operations manual with the highly effective, software based Practice Experts in Spinalogic, showing on-screen examples of DC initial diagnosis and CA shift preparation procedures. He also demonstrates fast data entry via Spinalogic’s customisable dictionaries instead of slow data entry via typing in text manually, and concludes by presenting Practice Expert Completion Reports that show the business owner what % of established practice procedures are being adhered to, and by whom.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Singapore – Saturday Session 2, Dr. Richard Sawyer
Here Dr. Richard Sawyer welcomes and encourages the new members of the WCA Singapore chapter, and explains his role to help practices in Singapore be more efficient and effective, and to be involved in the growth of WCA Singapore by providing the tools to accomplish that. He also demonstrates the automatic calculation of patient conversion from one step to another in their course of care, clearly showing where patients drop out of care, and where conversion weakness indicates process improvement is necessary.
World Chiropractic Alliance 2009 Seminar, Singapore – Saturday Session 1, Dr. Peter Snodgrass
Here Dr. Peter Snodgrass introduces the WCA to Singapore, presents the WCA’s “7 P’s of Practice”, discusses Spinalogic’s integration with the WCA (Spinalogic as a “WCA stamped” system), the push of data by Spinalogic (Visioneering) vs. the requirement to pull out data by other systems (Problemeering), the facilitation of staff reduction and the delivery of “Zero-Touch” or automatic electronic billing by Spinalogic, Spinalogic’s built in Promotion Tracker, and finally, Doctor time in hours per week that Spinalogic has saved Dr. Pete.
Here, at the Fullerton Hotel in Singapore, Dr. Peter Snodgrass and Dr. C.J. Mertz begin the weekend by presenting on the theme for the Singapore WCA Seminar – “Greatness”
Interview with Dr. Bunty in Singapore
Here I interview Dr. Bunty, recently appointed President of the WCA in Singapore, on what “Excellence in Chiropractic” means to him. Dr. Bunty emphasises that the first key to excellence is to be a good communicator and a leader, the former of which is achieved through practice and through understanding of the age-old “story of Chiropractic.” He also shares some of his highlights from the weekend.
Here I interview Dr. Brett Van Norman of Advanced Chiropractic in Singapore on what “Excellence in Chiropractic” means to him. Dr. Brett rightfully describes excellence as a process rather than a goal, and sees self-education as a key factor in that process. He also stresses the importance of connecting with other Chiropractors, and how the WCA Singapore chapter is now facilitating that.
Here I interview Arc Of Life Practice Manager Dulcie Ching on what “Excellence in Chiropractic” means to her. She beautifully describes increasing the “love and respect” continuum through patient education towards understanding the lifetime process of investing in the health of the spine.
Here are some highlights of the first WCA 2009 Seminar, notably Dr. Peter Snodgrass’ lecture on “Collapse Model and Short Lever Segmental Correction”, Dr. Richard Sawyer’s presentation on “Digital X-ray Acquisition, Handling and Analysis”, and some expert Chiropractic adjustment by Dr. Rob Marin.
Here I interview Dr. Pete about the year-long WCA Road Trip. Check how enthusiastic about our journey he is!
Here I interview Dr. Mark about what “Excellence in Chiropractic” means to him. Note how clear and confident he is in his response.
Interview with Dr. Rob Marin in Adelaide
Here I interview Dr. Rob, who was jointly the first Doctor of Chiropractic in Australia to install a new Digital Radiography (DR) x-ray machine.
Here I interview Dr. Rob of Health Zone on what “Excellence in Chiropractic” means to him. Note the 3 areas of excellence he identifies. As a result of the seminar in Adelaide, Dr. Rob had Spinalogic installed in his practice and has joined our growing community of Smart Chiropractors.
